You should have put the book where you found it.

我完全不知道什么是状语从句...基本上我不会从句子类型来解析,以下是个人愚见：
You should have = 你（当时）应该/你本该（在讲述/检讨一件事）
You should = 你应该（现在时）
You should have put the book where you found it.
你应该要把书放在你找到它的地方.（意思是你放错位/没把书放回去）
你假如要加to的话就要加back
You should have put the book 【back to】 where you found it.
你应该要把书放回原位.
put it to有其他含义,假如你要说的是“放XXX到XXX”put后面不加to,而是直接指出那个地方
例：put it there / put the book on the rack
（我们不说put it 【to】 there）
