The importance of deep culture may sometimes be overlooked due to
technological convergence.It is easy to forget that the existence and
importance of culture is a relatively recent insight.The first researchers
who explored these issues emphasized a need for us to use cross-cultural
experiences to come to a greater understanding of ourselves.They also
spoke of the difficulties of going beyond our cultural programming.These
issues are more relevant than ever as they represent precisely the challenges
being faced by millions of sojourners today.Rather than redefining
or rejecting culture as a useful concept,it may be necessary to go back to
the roots of the discovery of culture.
